Steel Industry Training - 2020 Courses Announced
The Materials Processing Institute has recently announced the dates for its steel industry training courses for January - June 2020.
Metallurgy
The Metallurgy Course provides an excellent understanding of the science and technology of metals, primarily for carbon and alloy steels. Alongside the classroom lectures will be extensive practical sessions, held in a well-equipped metallographic laboratory.
Course date - 4th to 6th February.

Hot Rolling & Finishing of Steel
The Hot Rolling and Finishing of Steel Course provides a comprehensive understanding of how continually cast steel is transformed into usable products for the many varied applications of steel. The course is designed to combine both practical and theoretical aspects of the rolling and subsequent finishing processes employed across the steel industry.
Course date - 20th - 22nd April 2020

Ironmaking
The Ironmaking Course provides an in-depth overview of the blast furnace process and raw materials considerations. The presentations are a combination of theoretical, practical and operational aspects. A key part is the group work using a process options model to investigate the effects of process and material changes on cost.
Course date - 11th to 14th May 2020

Steelmaking & Continuous Casting
The Steelmaking & Continuous Casting course provides a comprehensive understanding of primary steelmaking, secondary steelmaking and continuous casting. The presentations combine both practical and theoretical aspects of steelmaking and casting, including laboratory activities and a tour of the Materials Processing Institute Plant.
Course date - 8th to 12th June 2020
