The Materials Processing Institute has launched the latest course in its series of online training courses which can be accessed instantly and are available to complete at any time and on demand.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course considers how cost savings can be made in primary steelmaking by the application of good operational and technical management. It also includes details of how successful R&D experiments can be implemented on plant to benefit operations and add value to primary steelmaking.
WHAT THE COURSE COVERS
The course covers the primary steelmaking operations from hot metal leaving the blast furnace all the way through to the in-blow sample within the BOS converter. The course discusses the operations required and provides detail where value can be added in this process by the application of R&D, strong technical knowledge and good management practices.
The course is split into 3 modules.
Module 1: The Value of Hot Metal Pre-treatments
Module 2: The Cost Saving from Correct Scrap Selection
Module 3: BOF Vessel Process
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By taking this course you will:
Understand where selection choices can add value and reduce costs in primary steelmaking
Gain detailed knowledge of the inter-dependent relationships and stages required in primary steelmaking in the BOF process
Gain an insight into the role of R&D can provide in improving plant operations and reduce the cost base
WHO SHOULD ACCESS THE COURSE?
This course is ideal for people working in the steel industry, including scientists, researchers, technologists, technology managers and operations and operational management and anyone wanting to broaden their knowledge of integrated primary steelmaking.
