Alzheimer’s Society chosen as the charity that the Materials Processing Institute will be supporting in 2024
The Alzheimer’s Society has been chosen as the charity that the Materials Processing Institute will be supporting throughout 2024.
With an estimated 900,000 people in the UK living with dementia, the Alzheimer’s Society describe dementia as the biggest health and social challenge of our time with may people being undiagnosed and facing the realities of their condition alone.
Each year the Institute selects a charity to support with fundraising activities. The charity supported by the Institute in 2023 was “Footprints in the Community” who run foodbanks in Teesside, including one in South Bank where the Institute campus is. Support throughout the year included a donations box which staff and other campus business residents could contribute food and other items, and this will continue in 2024. The final fundraising event of 2023 was the Institute Christmas Raffle which raised £201.00 for the foodbank.
Traditionally, the winner of the first prize at the Christmas raffle chooses the charity to be supported for the following year with the Alzheimer's Society being chosen for 2024. Activities throughout the year will focus on raising funds to support the Alzheimer's Society to help them to provide dementia support services, fund dementia research and campaign to support those living with dementia.
