Gold Partner status recognises commitment to STEM initiatives

We have achieved Industrial Cadets Gold Partner status with the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), a national charity that connects young people with industry and inspiring STEM futures.

From this year, our Millman Scholars, Carol Patton Engineering Scholar, and Summer Placement Students will not only gain valuable work experience with us but will also be officially accredited through this Industrial Cadets Scheme. Their time with us will be formally recognised with the Industrial Cadets Gold Award, showcasing their skills, achievements, and commitment to a future career in STEM.

About EDT and Industrial Cadets

EDT was established in 1984 and supports over 40,000 young people each year in gaining real industry experience, bridging the gap between education and the working world. Inspired by the vision of HRH The Prince of Wales, the Industrial Cadets framework was created to offer structured, high-quality workplace experiences and is now a gold standard across the UK for developing young talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Through this partnership, we are contributing to the national drive to develop the next generation of industry leaders and innovators.

Why This Is Important

This partnership is a major step in ensuring our Scholars and Students:

• Build critical experience and employability skills

• Expand their professional networks

• Gain an industry-recognised accreditation that gives them a competitive edge for future careers.

By providing real-world project experiences and personal development opportunities, we are inspiring bright minds and actively shaping the future of our industries.

Support From Our Colleagues

To make this programme a success, colleagues across the business will be supporting our Scholars and Students with coaching and advice that will be vital to their development.

All the students will be joining us for a placement over the summer and we will be sharing further updates with case studies about what they get involved with, along with awards.
